Illustration for the Brookfield Institute for Innovation + Entrepreneurship to be used as a web illustration and cover for their toolkit to highlight the inherent bias in lending and encourage financial institutions, business support orgs, accelerators, etc to adopt more equitable financial support policies for women entrepreneurs.
The illustration was used for web use on both Brookfield’s website as well as their partner, the Women Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub.
I had the pleasure of working with Jessica, the marketing and communications specialist for Bii+E. The This toolkit provides actionable ways to combat gender bias in the funding ecosystem. While we wanted to focus on the representation of women, we wanted to avoid having the illustration look overly gendered. Working within Brookfield’s colour palettes, we decided upon an image that had an optimistic and solution-focused tone to target their key audience. We worked upon themes that included diverse representation of woman identities, as well as visual metaphors for tools for success.
